I am a 1978 graduate of Iota High School. After being married and having my only child, I decided to go to college and major in education. I graduated from McNeese State University in 2000. I taught Pre-K Special Education in St. Landry Parish at East Elementary in Eunice for two years before moving to Acadia Parish. There I taught Pre-K Special Education for two years at Central Rayne Kindergarten. I received a phone call with an offer to teach Early Intervention for Jeff Davis Parish in May 2004. I began making home visits throughout the parish in August 2004. By the end of that year, I was asked to join the faculty and staff of Welsh Elementary. I began as a Special Education teacher until the parish adopted the Universal Pre-K Program. At that time my class grew to 20 students! It was a challenge, but it was one that I delighted in. I enjoy working with preschool children. I have made some really good friends in the town of Welsh as well as some pretty awesome parents and kiddos!
When I am not working, I fill my time with my two grandchildren, John Patrick, age 7 and Leah Kate, age 5. They attend Church Point Elementary where their mother, my daughter, Katie has been teaching kindergarten for the past 10 years.
